You could start as an admin officer or assistant office manager in a health centre, GP surgery or hospital and do further training on the job to move into a management position.

You can apply directly to become a GP practice manager.

You'll need to have a business background and be an experienced manager with management qualifications.

Experience of working in a health or social care setting can be useful.

Other routes

You can do a training course, like a Level 5 Primary Care and Health Management, with the Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Administrators and Receptionists (AMSPAR).
