Build on the same data

Every figure on jobfacts comes from a free JSON API. Pay, employment, demand, job adverts, apprenticeships and the routes in, for all 412 UK occupations, each with its source, its release and how reliable it is.

Get a key

Keys will be free. Sign-up opens when the public API goes live. Send your key in the X-API-Key header on every request.

The /v1/meta endpoints need no key, so you can see what the API covers first. The free tier allows 60 requests a minute.

First requests

Everything is keyed on a four-digit SOC 2020 code. Start from a job title, then ask about the occupation it finds.

  1. Find the occupation for a job title

    curl -H "X-API-Key: $LMI_KEY" "$LMI_API/v1/occupations/search?q=plumber&limit=3"

The top match is 5315, plumbers and heating and ventilating installers and repairers.

  2. Ask what it pays

    curl -H "X-API-Key: $LMI_KEY" "$LMI_API/v1/occupations/5315/pay?pattern=fulltime"

Use the median. A withheld figure is null, never zero, and presentable says whether a figure is reliable enough to show.

  3. Ask anything else about it

    curl -H "X-API-Key: $LMI_KEY" "$LMI_API/v1/occupations/5315/job-adverts"

The same code works with every occupation endpoint: see them all.

Read the getting started guide for the full walk-through, with example responses.
